Muay-Thai

What is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai (pronounced like “moy tie”) is sometimes also called Thai Boxing.  It is the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand. It was developed several hundreds of years ago as a form of close-combat that utilizes the entire body as a weapon.

Today, Muay Thai is practised and competed not only in Thailand, but also all around the world in gyms and at sports events. Muay Thai is known as, “the art of eight limbs.” This refers to the eight points of contact used including the fists, elbows, knees, and shins.

It is excellent for fitness training, self defence, general sport providing a full body workout like no other. It also strengthens the mind and builds confidence. There are many who attest to Muay Thai’s ability to beat out all other martial arts and fighting styles.

Whether you are training for competition, fitness or self-defense Muay Thai has something to offer everyone.
